Rootkeepers exists to excavate, archive, and activate. To gather the wisdom of our ancestors, to name what has been taken, and to weave a future where our roots are not just acknowledged but honoured.

ABOUT

Ancestral wisdom is disappearing—through assimilation, colonialism, globalization, and forgetting.

Rootkeepers exists to change that.

This space is a living archive of cultural memory, protecting what was never meant to be forgotten.

We create conversations that challenge erasure, celebrate identity, and nurture the radical empathy needed to build a more equal world.

In a society that commodifies culture and rewards assimilation, we stand as guardians of heritage – not as static artifacts, but as living, evolving wisdom.

Through stories that defy erasure, dialogues that deepen identity, and practices that move beyond the performative, we reclaim silenced truths and build a future where everyone can stand fully in who they are.

If we do not choose to keep our roots, we lose something bigger than heritage – we lose sovereignty.

CURATOR

"I am the granddaughter of a double refugee.
Child of two immigrants, forcibly displaced from Tanzania and Uganda.
A Sikh, from a warrior lineage that survived a state-sponsored genocide.
My roots burrow deep in Punjab's soil, but my branches unfurl cautiously in foreign winds.

I was raised on stories of loss and resilience, though no one ever called them that. They were simply what happened.

I learned early:
Some inherit land. Others inherit loss.
Some inherit leather-bound archives, tracing family trees across centuries. Others inherit musty suitcases, filled with scraps they will never piece together.

But what we inherit doesn't have to be taken as is.

Through excavating my fragmented history, I've discovered that reclaiming our stories is an act of resistance.

Rootkeepers is for anyone navigating the complexity of cultural identity, whether you're reclaiming lost traditions or just figuring out how to belong without shrinking yourself.

I want to create a space where our collective wisdom can live and grow, uninterrupted.

If it sounds like you’re a Rootkeeper too, welcome home."

We envision a world where…

We envision a world where…

꩜ Cultural diversity is humanity’s greatest strength.

꩜ Ancestral wisdom flows freely across generations.

꩜ No one needs to shrink, silence, or erase themselves to belong.

꩜ Our differences weave us together, rather than pull us apart.

Each person stands deeply rooted, whole, and unhidden.

Each person stands deeply rooted, whole, and unhidden.
